Destination Phillip Island is the peak industry body for tourism in the Phillip Island region.

The board partners with the local industry, Bass Coast Shire Council, Visit Victoria and Tourism Australia to deliver strategies to grow and sustain tourism in the region.

Tourism and events (visitor economy) creates jobs and economic prosperity in communities right across Victoria.

In 2016-17, tourism was estimated to be worth $407 million to the region’s economy (in direct and indirect Gross Regional Product) representing 39.1% of the regions economy. Tourism generated employment of approximately 4,400 people or 39.5% of the region’s employment (direct and indirect jobs).

Car Ferry Project

Bass Coast and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils and the Victorian Government are preparing a Draft Business Case to determine the cost, requirements and viability of a vehicle and passenger ferry service between Stony Point, French Island and Cowes.
